Camilla Galwey  -   principle fundraiser and website co-ordinator

Hello Everyone!

This website is my gift to the children of the Voltahome in the hope that it will bring visitors and volunteers to give support, guidance and love to these beautiful, motherless children

In 2005 a voluntary connection with a refugee from West Africa led me to Ghana and, during this adventure, I met Issa Dan Annabi who had been recommended as a guide and interpreter.  At his orphanage in Deme, the wonderful traditional welcome with singing, drumming, dancing and big open smiles could not hide the fact that everyone was hungry.  It was clear that living conditions were very, very poor and the Annabi family were struggling to provide even the basics for all these abandoned children.

I discussed the idea of a farm with Mr Annabi and we immediately began raising funds to get started.  Today there is food, but there is still much more to be done

This website, and the volunteer blog, hopes to give visitors the privilege to experience a different culture while also offering much needed support and love to these motherless children. This love and understanding will profoundly affect their lives and, at the same time, slowly improve the moral, social, and economic life-force of the Volta Home, one heartbeat at a time.

I welcome any opportunity to hear news of Volta Home .
